Neurodiversity Connects - The Sequel - Special Interest Edition (Project SPINS)
The Neurodiversity Connects Project in 2025, everyone involved took a step forward to a new role to apply for a follow on project that continues to connect Neurodivergent Young Adults and reduce loneliness and social isolation, and adds the dimension that every month, activities will be themed around a particular special interest of the project team and participants. Special Interests or SPINS are often a significant part of a Neurodivergent persons life, they are more than just a hobby and are a significant focus in the ND person's life and can be a source of learning, growth, joy and emotional safety for the person. Common SPINS include:
- Trains, Emergency Vehicles, Planes, Cars
- DC and Marvel
- Film, Theatre and TV Programs
- Specific historical periods such as the World Wars, The Titanic, The Tudors.
- Pokemon, My Little Pony, WWE
- Anime, Manga and Comic Strip
Leah, the former Project Leader from 2025 learnt so much, she has now taken on the role of Coach for the 2026 project and previous project participants Naoise and Josh have now taken over leadership of the project, with former project participants joining the project team , to help drive the running of the project. CAIM Empowers is delighted to have been invited to continue as a mentor for the project and the team and will do this in a voluntary capacity.
